So, Friday, Dec. 12th around 6:30 p.m. Richard became an alumnus of Brigham Young University -Idaho. Hooray Richard!!! I am so proud of him, not necessarily just because he graduated --that wasn't really ever a question, but I have been so impressed with the personal growth and progress I've seen in him over the past few years. A few examples: (please allow me this small indulgence)
Richard has developed a great work ethic. One example; this semester he's been getting up every morning at 5:00 so that he can write in his journal (if there's time before Ethan wakes up), then he usually cleans the apartment or gives Ethan his breakfast and plays with him so I can get a little extra sleep before he leaves for classes...on his bike, at 7:30 every morning. What a guy! Some of the other changes in him have been a little more subtle. He has become so much more confident -- not only in his work, but especially when it comes to social interactions. His English skills and experience have made him much more comfortable giving feedback to his students and grading papers, and lately I've noticed that he's become quite the social guy. Everywhere we go he's always running into people he knows and talking to them. Usually they're people from work, but also classmates. People really like and respect him and they feel comfortable around him because he's such an easy-going person. Another thing; Richard has worked really hard for his grades --setting and achieving goals of straight A's for the past few semesters all while he works part time to provide for our growing family. He is a such a wonderful husband and father. I could say so much more but it would just embarrass him, so I won't. I love you, Richard, and congratulations on making it to this point in your life so successfully.
Here's a few pictures and a clip from the graduation, not that it's very high quality. I didn't even get the camera started in time to get him saying his name as he walked, but oh well.
You can just barely make out Richard's profile in the center of this commencement picture, but I thought it was cool that I got a picture of the back of Pres. Clark's head without meaning to. If I had been meaning to, I could have gotten Pres. Uchtdorf as well who was walking with him.

Yeah Richard! Congratulations! That is really neat. I am glad you got a video, I could feel like I attended his graduation. Also, thanks for telling us about his great qualities, Laura.
Where is that other news post?
Congratulations, Richard! I think you should come to TX for grad school.
